I gave some info on my post #:79434615 about MinRes and Ganfeng relation. The JV is 50%-50%.

However MinRes is in big trouble as you know; managerially, commercially and financially. You know the managerial problems. Commercially; they have two lithium mines (Mt Marion JV with Ganfeng and Wodgina with Albemarle, both 50%-50%) but both of them are making loss atm. Their iron ore mines are also not in good situation. Those are high cost mines in comparison to BHP and RIO mines) as well.

Their debt is very high $5.8b.
And their cash is too low atm; around $450m.

MinRes has to keep the Mt Marion and Wodgina working because they are making loss at the end product (spod) but they are making some profit from the mine services they give at both mines.

"A wholly-owned MinRes subsidiary, CSI Mining Services, is the mining services contractor for both lithium mines and derives a big chunk of its revenue from the two operations".

Albemarle wants to reduce the production because of loss as you may know.

As you can see on the news on that link $300m was injected to the Mt Marion mine in late 2024, and now they are injecting another $300m. Ganfeng is happy with that loss because the Chinese gov. subsides it. So MinRes is now unintentionally relying on China Gov's subsidies atm.

That all shows 100% that China is very short in lithium. No question about that.

It's a very weird situation. Australian lithium mines are being exploited by China to manipulate the lithium price. According to my calculation the Australian federal and state governments loss in income tax and loyalties more than $2b for every yea, maybe much more than that.

I can't understand how our gov can't see that and take necessary actions.
