I wonder what the main issue with the battery is? Given they formed in 2013? Perhaps the energy density just isnt there? A quick search on wiki and looks like energy density is 200W/kg.
You might be interested in BASF and their investment into Sion Power and their tech called Licerion. Their current state of the art is 500W/kg. You'll be glad to know also they use a lithium anode
