Shame the WaPo didn't name drop.

Agree with the GMR's statement around Li based batteries. I feel there been too much time spent on future tech displacing lithium based batteries, at least in the next decade. In the past 10 years we've seen an 80% decrease in $/kWh and more importantly a doubling in Wh/kg. Most arguements about other battery forms displacing lithium based storage seem to forget this upward trajectory in performance and with most tech not looking to be displacing lithium in anything but hand held devices by 2030, the mountain they need to climb will continue to climb higher and higher, potentially outpacing development.

As the review said 'The automotive world has essentially chosen it's Pony..."

The only area I can see Li being replaced in the short term (meaning 10-15yrs) is where rapid charging is required (although with increased Wh/kg this may not be required) or mainly in grid level storage where storage continues to be in the form of gravitational potential rather than chemical.

    Thanks for the share L!
