Bingo! A gigafactory in Abu Dhabi is news to me, but may not be to others? Perhaps someone already posted this in December? Several articles on this newly signed agreement came up, but this is the only one I've read so far. Will post links to the others later.

The chemical components of their BESS production aren't specified (whether they're lithium or vanadium based for their industrial and home energy storage systems), but if they're lithium batteries, a Phase 2 plant would support higher demand.

Highlighting of LPD pertinent info mine. Here's the link:

Abu Dhabi-based smart energy storage solutions provider, Volts UAE Ltd (Volts) and global leader in energy management and industrial automation, Scheider Electric have signed an agreement to set up a giga-industrial facility for the production of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Abu Dhabi.

Volt aims to produce about 100 million units of battery products per year.

"This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to shaping a sustainable energy future in the UAE. Together, we are focused on producing energy storage systems that will power homes and electric vehicles, contributing to a cleaner and more efficient energy landscape" said Vladimir Mlynchik, Founder of Volts.

Volt has begun developing the first Middle East giga factory for the production of industrial energy storage systems and batteries in Abu Dhabi, and as its first step, signed cooperation agreements with the world's large companies including Schneider Electric, Honeywell, and CC7 Europe B.V., Mlynchik, stated in a social media post.

As per reports, the latest partnership will explore areas of collaboration and explore opportunities in technological, consulting, and automation services for the project to serve the production of industrial and home energy storage systems and battery cells.

"Through this collaboration, Schneider Electric reaffirms its commitment to innovation and industry leadership. This agreement aligns with our mission to be the partner of choice for sustainability, digitization, and decarbonization," said Ahmed Khashan, President of Gulf Countries, at Schneider Electric.

"With this collaboration, we are steps closer to transformative UAE changes in the industrial sector, fostering sustainability, innovation, and resilience in line with UAE's clean energy goals and initiatives, including electrifying mobility," he added.

Through the discussions and deals that were finalized on the sidelines of COP28 climate negotiations, Volts also confirmed it is considering launching a special research center to develop energy storage systems capable of operating at extremely low and high temperatures.

Commenting on the latest partnership, Osama Amir Fadhel, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector, UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said the country is emerging as a hub for advanced manufacturing, innovation, and green energy.

"This MoU signifies how the country provides an ideal environment for investors and major international corporations to set up alongside local industries under a single vision to accelerate sustainable industrial and technological development. This is in line with both the Make it in the Emirates and the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative," Fadhel added.
