Yeah Apple and orange situation...except they're genetically modified by different scientists with different means to make the same colour and tasting juice. If they had different juicing plants which would be the most profitable? Terrible analogy but all I could come up with.
Was thinking someone like an 8horse or alike would have an insanely detailed spreadsheet detailing the most cost advantageous method of arriving from the ground, through the plant, to the packet for carbonate and hydroxide.
Apologies should've condensed all this more succinctly into one post.
