It would be neat if they could pull it off. But as you can see by the moves the biggest players in the marketplace have made, investing billions into lithium ion battery plants, that's where the trend is going for the next 15-20 years.

The charged EV's article states that they are 4 more years of testing and the Aquion energy only holds 1/2 as much energy density and only delivers 1/2 as much power delivery. Not really a viable alternative as the MIT spin off SolidEnergy just doubled the storage and or essentially cut in half the size/weight of current Li batteries. He (SolidEnergy) used current battery facilities to do their work and says minimal retooling.
Hope they make it and it might be a good option for grid storage or other applications?
