    So whats been happening lately…

    Advanced plays

Two standouts have been on the move. Shows where smart money has been flowing.

NMT – Almost doubled in a month, tripled in 3 months.

Buoyed by dividend, strong cash balance, leading partners and production within sight. Share buy back will further support price. Favourable share structure has not held back the stock.

    ORE – Up 40% in a month Hitting $3+ 12-24 month highs.

Running strongly with significant institutional holder base. Finally hitting its straps after a long ramp up. Very strong position as #4 brine producer in the world behind the traditional majors. Breakeven was in January with nameplate targeted by September.
Others that could break out soon

PLS – Entry into ASX 300 will spur institutional interest. Sensing corporate action is getting closer. Broker reports are very optimistic. The competitive advantage is the growing world class resource.

GXY/GMM – Production imminent with offtake paid in advance. Will relieve tight budget pressure and capital raising concerns. Allowing focus on returning the project to strong and profitable production.

A lot of smaller plays around

There remains interest particularly from traders in the more speculative end of the sector. Low base market caps are seen as a low risk play for some. I think though a case of tread carefully. Some stocks have had big bounces. Eg PLP, CXO, MCT. Whether the rises are sustainable depends on the substance of the progress and market perceptions on pathways to economic viability.

MCT has come off a bit, awaiting further news. I like the prospective land holdings, diversification, and proactive management.

Mica players have not moved greatly. LIT just received a government innovations grant. Market may need further convincing on economic viability. PLP had a big run up recently but has come back down since announcing of the Mica technology acquisition.
