Toyota were in BEV denial for some time under CEO Toyoda, Bob, while he was fixated on his hydrogen dream, and when his hydrogen fantasy was shown to be a failure, he was forced to step down. The new CEO knew they were way behind the 8-ball on EV's, so started a somewhat EV negative press campaign relying on their market might to slow EV take-up down while they beavered away to catch up. The market ignored them, and I suggest they will again use their market might in a positive way at a time of their choosing, or rather when they feel their EV products are ready to become a major contender. That dynamic is not far away.
