Mercedes EQC electric vehicle debuts in Stockholm

Mercedes has unveiled its debut electric vehicle, the EQC, as the first fruit of a €10 billion ($A16 billion) development program which aims to deliver an entire family of battery-powered cars.

Revealing the car in Stockholm, Sweden, Mercedes says the SUV is the first in a range of 10 EVs due by 2025 as it embraces a move away from dependence on internal combustion.

“With the EQC … we are flipping the switch,” said Mercedes chief Dieter Zetsche. “Electric drive is a major component in the mobility of the future.”
