LAC has not stopped production as it has not started production yet. Ganfeng owns 51% of the Cauchari Project in Argentina . It is in construction and expected to come online next year.
As for the investment decision of Ganfeng: LAC and AJM do not play in the same court and maybe not even the same game. An investment in AJM could have been a good deal, an investment in LAC was a strategic decision.
AJM is a small, efficient, low cost spodumene producer.
LAC is until now a developer, but aiming to become a Lithium chemical major with two very large resources:
Cauchari is 40.000 LCE (40 year mine life) in construction
Thacker Pass 60.000 LCE (46 year mine life) according to PFS. DFS expected anytime....
