I am trying to work out who currently supplies LiOH to  Tesla in the U.S.
The Li guru's hashtag in ALB and Livent.
I am not sure how ALB would be a direct supplier of high performance LiOH but more a supplier of Carbonate to Livent.
ALB were  building Kemmerton refinery for this purpose.
The management in each company have all worked together over the years and it has been mentioned that ALB might buy them out. Livent is small, providing high quality Li products to the market, but their ponds  small.
Last year the relationship between Panosonic was at an all time low.
Panosonic refused to expand.
Elon buying up battery tech.
Panosonic going in with Toyota.
Livent qtr 1 2019 report that a customer has taken 2/3 of yearly LiOH requirement and expects LiOH sales to fall for the rest of the year.
It sounds like a last order to me.
Sales did fall and 4000 tonnes moved to 2020.
In qtr 3 Livent announce MoU with LG Chem.  
I would say there was a change of supplier from a major  LiOH customer in the U.S.
Tesla via Panosonic moved all LiOH purchases to Ganfeng IMO.
Cost most probably the driver.
