In 2019, CATL supplied China's first EV boat, a very small boat indeed, with 0.68Mwh battery system. This boat runs at a speed of 21 knots. In 2020, CATL supplied China's first seafaring EV boat with 2 x 0.75Mwh battery system.

EVE also secured an order, in April 2020, to deliver a 1.5Mwh system and 2.5Mwh system to two sightseeing boats, on top of over 200 plus already filled boat systems, mainly for sightseeing boats in China. In fact, EVE signed an agreement to supply battery systems for 18 5400T cargo ships in 2019 too.

Gotion secured an order to deliver 3 battery systems, but not sure how big they are.

According to some research analysis, battery powered boats has a 30% less operation costs comparing to the diesel powered boat, hence the adoption of battery system on boat will move much faster than EV car. This analysis also forecast the total ship battery system will reach 35Gwh in 2025.
