Apples, oranges; the bulk of demand for lithium batteries is targeted toward the automotive industry, and flow batteries (such as VRBs) would not be appropriate here, rather more-appropriate for large-capacity energy storage.

So basically, yes, Lithium outperforms Vanadium for the (household) simulations, but Vanadium has potential to be competitive if performance improved. Given the focus on lithium battery technology, it's not unimaginable to think that if the same focus were applied to vanadium battery technology that it could be improved to the point of surpassing lithium batteries for the energy storage sector, especially for more-commercial/industrial (ie. larger-capacity) applications.
