This ban is just another labor failure. Policy on the run. As usual no thought process what so ever. In a few months we will hear about the unintended consequences.

In just over a week the Govt has been able to establish all the facts to make a informed decision. This would have to be a world record for any govt ever.

Just over a week ago 4 corners runs a program that shows animal cruelty. What we dont hear are some facts like what percentage of slaughter houses use these practices. Is it 1%, 5%, 20% 100%. I personally dont know the answer but without the answer how can a informed decision be made.

If we had bad practices in a few abattoirs in Australia would we close every one.

For all those who are focused on animal cruelty as the main issue why not focus on the Human cruelty that will result from this hasty decision.

Knee jerk policy changes such as this helps no one especially the animals. The Indonesians will just source the animals from a different supplier and the problem will remain
