We should only process meat here in Australia. More jobs for Australians and more humane for the animals.

Great in theory, but impossible to put into practice. This is a very difficult industry in terms of a reliable labour force and cost contraints, hence the closing of many processing facilities across Australia over the past 20 years.
While I have some concerns about the way the animals have been treated, one has to remember that the livestock are being processed in what is sometimes described at best as a developing country and at worst a third world country.
I am in favour of the govnuts decision as long as there is a quick solution by way of providing the necessary equipment and training for the Indo processors. But I am not holding my breath given this govnuts track record.
