I've lived in a van before (but by choice) - once by myself but traveling with mates for about 8 months. Second with my partner/wife for about 6 months. To be honest had the time of my life. A few hassles here and there but overall the freedom of no responsibilities and traveling anywhere we wanted was great. We also did the park outside resorts and use their pools/spa trick hehe - just as long as you act confident no probs :-) Even got shouted beers by Japanese tourists at one resort haha.

We also did a fair bit of fruit picking which is a great way to earn some fairly good cash if your prepared to slog your guts out for a month or two (by working somewhere that pays by the bin - i.e. harder you work more pay you get).

We always just stayed at beaches and car parks and forest reserves etc. Never stayed at caravan parks but sometimes went to one and asked if we could use the showers for $2 and they always said yes.
