For all the people going on about JCAP, they are not idiots, they likely made a killing on the Short side and are now making just as much on the Long.

Also be careful how you interpret the Short Report - The Short report broadly show what WAS shorted not what is actually Shorted over night.

Shorting 101 - never short over night
Shorting 201 - if you have a pro account, what you will see the number of shares available to short for any given stock and how much and what the overnight fee is.

The key takeaway is if one looks at number of shares available at 350pm it will be greatly larger than what is available 850am.

A Broker need to disclose that a share was shorted https://www.asx.com.au/data/shortsell.txtPlease read the first line

It is daily GROSS that is reported - not NET

Say Broker Y have 100,000 shares for its traders/clients to short and say only 1 trader borrows 50,000 at 9am and returns 50,000 shares at 3,59pm - NET shorted is ZERO but what is reported is GROSS 50,000

What if that same trader borrowed 50,000 at 8:50am, sold short, closed out the position, opened a short position than closed out at 3:59pm.......

Reported is GROSS 50,000

If ASX Short data was showing over night shorts... one will not be that interested with most hovering around 0.5%.... Unless of course one had player like JCAP stalking the stock
