Maybe I am wrong, maybe China has high environmental standards and the price of hard rock lithium is not subsidised by the heath of the Chinese people. Maybe getting lithium from Spodumene is simple and not detrimental to the local community after all, all they have to do is
crush it
grind it
put it through froth floatation
put it through a rotary dryer
then a rotary kiln
then Sulphuric acid digestion
then roast it
done using cheap power from a coal fired power station
