As far the Steve thing goes, I dont know the bloke personally, so I cant opine on what he did or didnt do, or what his motives are. Human behaviour is funny at best, and when people feel personally attacked they may make irrational decisions. But instead of speculate and believe myself an augur, I'll wait for more information to come our way.
