Tin price on the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) closed US$580 higher at US$20,450 a tonne today, a dealer said.
The price was a seven-week high after the last highest level on June 3 at US$21,100.
The metal's price on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose by US$600 to close at US$20,400 per tonne.
A dealer said there was a lot of buying interest at the opening bell, mainly from European traders, followed by Japanese and local traders, with bids at 160 tonnes while sellers only offered 34 tonnes, accounting for today's turnover of 36 tonnes, six tonnes lower than yesterday.
The premium between the KLTM and the LME narrowed to US$410 a tonne from a premium of US$430 on Wednesday.-- Bernama
