Great article. Clearly ESG are not going to benefit from changes to the spot market. However, if there are longer term closures and if the politics of nuclear power become unacceptable in Japan (as has to seem likely now) then it seems logical that the Japanese will be looking to get out and secure significant new LNG resources which could well have either a direct or indirect impact on ESG.
However, I think we need to take care at this time to keep perspective - the price and prospects of ESG are of no importance compared to the recovery efforts in Japan. I hope, given our partnerships with the Japanese, that ESG will be looking to make a sizeable donation to the relief effort. This would be an appropriate gesture both on a humanitarian basis and given our hopes for longer term partnerships with Japanese businesses.
