India is making a strategic move here - i don't think India will want anyone snubbed even if our competitors would just love to deliver GV a poke in the eye.
I don't know how the Indians see it but this move in my view represents a chance to get themselves some good dependable and reliable suppliers of LNG while the going is good.
In a few years the Chinese could well find that while they have been otherwise occupied the Indians have got the best deals and the Chinese are having to settle for much higher prices and much longer lead times while plants in the US are built.
To use an analogy - fix your home loan while interest rates a cheap not when they are high.
I think the Indians are playing it smart. Remember there is a lot of people in India and they need energy to get out of poverty
I am strong believer that in a few years coal will be in legacy only mode. Renewable energy will fall short of doing the whole job of providing energy and the world will wake up to the need for gas to be used to prevent bad climate change problems.
