With the exploitation of natural gas in Quebec, LNG port projects could come back in force, not to import the fuel, but for export. VAT News has also learned that a company is exploring this avenue.
According to the president of the Quebec Oil and Gas, Andr Caill, at least one company already present in Quebec, Molopo Australia, plans to export gas through a new LNG terminal. The company holds exploration licenses in the regions of Quebec, Bedford and Drummondville.
Professor of Energy Economics at the University Laval Jean-Thomas Bernard shared the same view. "It is quite conceivable that within four or five years there will be new plans for LNG terminals, not to import, but for export," says the specialist.
