CNX would produce syngas which is suitable for direct pipeline application unless a further process is undertaken to split the syngas into methane, hydrogen etc and I think cost wise this would be too expensive and require a significant capital investment.
In terms of research and analyses and a good investigation etc I think you will find CNX prepared/submitted/provided all the necessary technical info that's why they got signed off by the Govt own Chief Scientist.
At the end of the day politics and CNX just got caught up in others failings.
