dave, that govt gas thing is actually about ensuring supply in aussie - it is not about the govt fiddling with the price of gas (not directly fiddling - always supply/demand considerations)
That govt thing is about when you turn the gas valve on that there is gas coming out ........... which there is. Do you want more govt control than this? (I do, i reckon a part of the royalties paid should be in a state supply contract at the contracted price but with optional state takeup).
aside: if locals are willing to pay more than the $7/gig that asia pays (using your post) .......... why would a company still sell to asia at the lower price (the devil is always in the detail) ........... headlines are not always the story.
