I would question a supply issue. You may have heard of the guy running a website to match homeless people with empty houses to squat in? Or data released by water supply bodies listing the number of houses that have not used a drop of water. I agree unprecedented high levels of immigration at the request of business councils and the big end of town is compounding the issue. But it is not simply a supply/demand issue, this has been building for decades.
The data shows clearly we have been on this path of shelter being treated as a wealth building mechanism for a long time. The point at which income and prices separated are clear and a direct result of (liberal) legislation. It was always going to be unsustainable.
