the economy though is holding up quite strongly against the weight of inflation and interest rates suppressing consumption. but granted it does depend on the jaundice in the eye of the perceiver. looked at through the Libs eye the govt is there for the losing, while a pro-Lab view would see nothing but glory and defeat of the Libs.

the polling is pretty unsubstantiated guess work mate. if there was a wide difference one might draw some conclusions but at this stage, with close 2pp results, theres little to say that one has the advantage over the other.

Like always, it's the economy that decides.

The 2PP has shown a long term trend of narrowing, that would be a big concern for the government atm.

It's also imo unlikely that the economy will improve before the next election putting more pressure on ALP.

Maybe Albo will call a snap poll and go early?
