I paid off my first mortgage during 18%+ interest rates. I know what it's like. I was also earning over 20% interest on a cash management account. I was paid well and we managed well.
its was much tougher during the Lib 9 years. as my wife's wages were literally falling in real terms due to the Libs insane suppression of wages growth. now, despite paying more interest on our mortgage, her pay has risen in real terms and we can manage the mortgage much easier now.
