    "I honestly believe that Australia provides that opportunity in spades and that anyone who has got determination, half a brain, a good work ethic and has no major unfortunate events in their life , can make something of themselves.". in a nutshell. succinct, pithy and effectual. I doubt any here would disagree.

    this was the successful cry of Morrison: those that have a go will get a go.

    this is what I really admire about the NDIS. the system over a decade ago could never have achieved what the NDIS has done to free (some) people from their disabilities and allow them to work and socialise.

    this is the key benefit of social supports. when properly designed and functioning they help people to get back to work. the problem with the old systems is the designers thought they had to push people and then set up a chain of profit driven "employment services" whose primary objective was to keep people on the books - too much competition.

    capitalism works for businesses, not so well for public services. these need to refocus as the NDIS has shown. honestly the old CES was a far better model than we have now.
