People around the world are peed off with the big government machine ignoring the average person in the street. Therefore, these somewhat radical options get traction.

With regard to renewables in particular:

Renewables are now the hands down cheapest, cleanest electricity source on the planet . And they are getting cheaper . The gap to the alternatives is getting bigger . Devices and machines powered by clean electricity are more efficient and flexible than anything else. That's why we are seeing massive development and investment in electrically powered thermal storage etc . Whole industries are switching from fossil to renewable energy sources .

The global race is on for countries to switch to clean energy . Not just for environmental reasons .

They are doing it for energy security and competitive advantage reasons also. lf your manufacturing is powered by clean cheap renewable energy you have a massive advantage over everyone else.

E.g. China.

China has been focusing on clean electric power for 20 years . Long before just about everyone else .

Now they are seeing the fruits of that investment . They are in the box seat and everyone is playing catch up.

So froggies. Choose to go away from renewables at your peril. Choose to go with very expensive nuclear power if you like. Enjoy standing on the platform as the clean, cheap renewable train disappears in the distance leaving you behind.

The thing is the dynamic is:

nationalisation/anti-renewable vs market driven pro renewable.

the other dynamic is:

Fundamental rejection of agreed facts.

Eg., CSIRO or science institutions vs bloggers and petro- financed think tanks.
