    Any hierarchical structure is open to corruption. President Xi, for example, made an all-out attack on corruption within China as it was so bad that it was undermining the strength of their political system. I don't think the nature of the structure matters that much, it seems to be very corrosive regardless.

    Corruption is the result of an addiction to money. Most people struggle with it in one way or another. Perhaps capitalism has a lot to answer for, but maybe not. I'd be willing to hear an argument.

    Also, corruption isn't a great thing if one is a beneficiary. Corruption taints, and it lingers.
