I have been a little mystified about this obsession with the timing of a January update.

Given that SGH has a massive TRUST problem at the moment, I would have thought it pertinent to leave any update until such time as the audited accounts were close to being finalized.

What value could SGH possibly have in providing another loose update on their performance?

Whether the update be good or bad, I feel it is essential that it leave no doubt as to the performance to date, the new guidance and steps taken to ensure it is achieved or exceeded. Anything else would just add fuel to the fire.

So until the accounts are ready for the Auditors (usually last few days of January) and the review has been completed I would not expect to see anything of substance at all. For this reason I have always felt if a January announcement was to be released it would be late January. Its simply a logical timing issue for me.

In time we shall see.
