I think it will take a little while before RED themselves get a definitive answer of what to do next. Most tails dams are generally built progressively, so the bigger question facing them will be what will the strength of the final closed out dam be with a compromised section left inside or do they need to rebuild that section or some other such solution. Its time consuming stuff where the answer could range from considerable delays and costs through to minimal delays and costs. Its hard to give an update when the answer is not known yet.
I doubt the dam is about to burst, as it would probably be on CNN by now!
