The citizens of Caceres have already decided that their future should be based on their city´s enormous touristic potential, on its continously growing cultural attractions (the brand new Helga de Alvear Museum of Contemporary Art has opened up just a few weeks ago, for instance), and on the currently pristine natural conditions of its environment. They don´t want to jeopardize those conditions by letting others destroy them and then leave just the debris and the leftovers of a huge business, with the main profits going elsewhere. INF is talking all the time about local jobs as their main sales pitch, but the truth is that the future of jobs in Caceres is bound to be much darker with the mine than without it.
