Honestly I think they might let this one go. The EU is committed to supplying their own raw materials but not at any cost.

There are many other projects for Lithium in Europe and in the end enough supply for the whole transition, so the main decisions are more on when to create the supply and not so much if it's possible. That's why they are not in dire need of one single specific project.

And as you say, even if a bug deposit, the production was never enough for a single stand alone mine site. Worse mining will move forward in areas more likely to benefit in all this transition, but this is just how it is.
