If the mechanics of atmospheric pressure and sea interact as I believe then consistently higher pressure in an area would lead to consistently higher sea level in the area.
A quick search indicates that the 200- 300 mm you talk about are well within the range of atmospheric pressure affects on local sea levels (if you can believe wiki).
So I'm leaning towards it being true, that a change in local climate can lead to a change in local sea levels.
Whether this is the case in Florida, dunno.
But given this information, I am now hoping for a very high pressure locally on the 6th this month.
My theory being that the high pressure will push down on the local lake causing the water to flow into the ocean faster when the tide changes. This will drag more prawns from the lake through the channel, allowing me to catch more. (a couple of days rain before hand would also be a bonus).
