So after reading and reading with a reply here and there, along with a lot of thinking, I don't think there is any easy way out of this current mess.

But, what if Aus became Virus free and WE were able to go to the Pub, Eat at a restaurant, Go to the Rugby, Nightclub, ....Brothel or whatever ?

What short term pain for the long game would Aussies be willing to submit to ?

It is already evident that we have been able to mitigate the spread of Covid19 with the current enforcement, although it is also evident that some people just don't get it at all with pics from today showing people doing "essential" shopping at farmers markets just in Brisbane alone.

What if we enacted a strict three week lockdown, smashed the numbers of reinfection, enforced the current 14 day quarantine for international returns and just eliminated Covid19 in Aus all out for now ?

If we are able to achieve that in 4-6 weeks we could then return to some sort of normalcy here in Aus and at least have our local economy back to some sort of regular interaction and small business return to some sort of normal. People could interact and go about a semi normal life and we could have a return of Sport's and Schooling, Interstate travel and transport, tourism and commerce.

This would of course mean that Zero Travel from over seas occurred unless strict enforced quarantine is observed as it is currently but if we could achieve a zero transmission within Australia we could at least get our country operating internally which would place us on a much better footing once a global solution to this pandemic is achieved and also allow us as a people to return to some form of normalcy in the interim.

This would of course mean that we are cut off from the rest of the world in a semi literal sense until there is either a treatment or Vaccine for Covid19 but I personally think that it would/could also lead to a more self sufficient and self reliant Australia as well in the meantime. That time frame could be any where from 12 months to two years, but what are the real alternatives ?

Interested in other thoughts on all this, We do have the benefit of being an island and having the ability to literally cut ourselves off from the rest of the planet if we choose to do so, We also have the ability to knock this Virus on the head now before it gets a foothold as is evidenced with the current drop in transmitted cases.

Get on top of it right now, knock it out of the population with strict controls, then open Aus back up again in a month or so.

Celebrate it all with a State of Origin series...

It will take a concerted effort, but we are Aussies and We Can Do It.
