From an immunity point of view it is clearly the best way. Research is suggesting that the worst cases are correlated to those who have received the largest initial viral load ie those who are in close contact day after day receive a larger initial viral load than someone who touches a handrail.
Infection could be administered at the minimum viral load to stimulate infection at the least risk. Many would see that as a great benefit, get their certificate and they are free to start living and travelling again.
