The slippery slope fallacy is to suggest that because we have participated in one, two for some, lockdown, that the lockdowns will continue for years. your post is a bit alarmist.

A simpler explanation is that there is a pandemic, governments are imperfectly working out the best way to deal with it, mistakes are made, some lucky and some unlucky things happen. Some good decisions are also made, we judge the goodness or badness of the government decisions according to the perceived consequences.
