It was thought around 20 years ago that D-notices were in effect to suppress reporting of suicide deaths so these matters are seldom discussed, Even D-notices themselves cannot be discussed. D-notices were a war measure to prevent news of the war upsetting public morale. This tool of government control is still in place. Britain successfully strategically withdrew from Dunkirk for example.. (My mother used to quote that to me as a kid).

It would be very nice if you could publish total Victorian deaths YTD.

That said, I heard on the radio a week or so back that while the numbers were consistent with recent history, the attempts may be 25% or 30% higher. My recollection is that this was stated by an person from the health sector but I don't have the details unfortunately.
