A lot of the so-called 'prestiguous' scientific journals are on the take. They publish so much crud it's a joke. And they suppress anything which doesn't fit their narrative. That's not to say that all the papers are poor quality - the good ones will still choose to publish in the 'respected' journals, but the quality overall is very low.
A lot of these journals are all about the appearance of respectability.
