A bit heavy handed? It is an unprecedented show of state power in Australia. It has exposed just how much power a sleeping Australian public has trustingly handed over to the politicians. We keep saying Dan Andrews is evil, but the problem is stopping him at the moment is almost impossible.

I came across this from Pennsylvania. The American constitution is under constant attack mainly because of its focus on individual rights which obviously gnaws at the modern day psychopaths who hold office. Stickman is a Trump appointment, he's only relatively young for such a position, but expresses the problem Victoria now faces as any liberties we thought we had have now gone.

"In an emergency, even a vigilant public may let down its guard over its constitutional liberties only to find that liberties, once relinquished, are hard to recoup and that restrictions—while expedient in the face of an emergency situation—may persist long after immediate danger has passed," Stickman said.

Again taken from the US supreme court, Victoria appears to now not even have these basic freedoms.

Curfews directed at adults touch upon fundamental constitutional rights and thus are subject to strict judicial scrutiny. The U. S. Supreme Court has ruled that "[t]he right to walk the streets, or to meet publicly with one's friends for a noble purpose or for no purpose at all—and to do so whenever one pleases—is an integral component of life in a free and ordered society." Papachristou v. City of Jacksonville, 405 US 156, 164, 31 L. Ed. 2d 110, 92 S. Ct 839 (1972).
