FWIW, I agree. PNG is now on an inexorable slide toward an endemically corrupt failed State, whose tribal- based politicians have no concept of nationhood or 'national interest', just a continuation of pathetic reliance on the Cargo-Cult mentality that is a feature of all states in the Melanesian arc. Of course, this is largely our fault fir saddling a very backward third-world country with a complex Westminster system of government that they had no hope of making work.
(Whether Myanmar may involve equal 'country risk' is of course moot...)
