Wireline logging is the term given to the process when they send a wireline down the hole. Attached to it is a device that measures all sorts of wonderful things. It takes pictures, measures the gravity, the magnetics, the angle, the presents of oil or gas shows and provides information to give to the geologist to figure out what is down there. It looks like a giant winch that you have on the front of your bull bar, or coon bar depending where you live.
