This is an interesting one. The courts should be independent of the Govt. But part of the sovereign risk of business in Malaysia is that we don't know the "measure" of that independence.

Just by logic of natural justice - Lynas was invited to Malaysia and has been fully compliant with no incidents, no breaches and has been a.major contributor to the community and the economy. One hostile minister and a misguided green group should not be allowed to change contractual terms so-much -so as to deliberately create a breach on conditions.

Also even if the Government has any leverage on proceedings it will be interesting to see which part of the govt gave more leverage. I am guessing minor junior MPs and deputy ministers don't count for crap. The malevolent MESTECC
minister might count a little, the PM should count for a lot.

So i think it could go either was if the Courts are completely independent..because we dont know what twisted legislation might exist. if Govt factions have influence- then we might be ahead.
