It shows that Logitech has bought cell strips from G24i and have started to include them in their products. You can buy them yourself from the G24i website. You can also buy a G24i keyboard also from their website.

I guess one should define what commercialisation is. Should DSC be considered commercialised when G24i sells a solar keyboard or when Logitech sells one? The key news here is that Logitech now includes DSC in their products over traditional solar cell technology used in their other solar keyboards.

It makes more sense for Logitech to produce such products than G24i since they have greater market power and paths to mass market.

DYE has taken the same approach for BPIV. TATA and Pilkington have these established paths to market. If DYE produced a BIPV product and attempted to sell directly to the building market I doubt they would get much traction and the capital costs would kill them. If you are going to buy material for a large building, it is best to buy from someone you trust and who can underwrite product warranties.

DYE has moved towards the BIPV market because they know the volume of materials required is substantially higher than the consumer goods market.

It should be remembered that DYE was looking at these smaller markets. Things changed Corus (now TATA) approached DYE to investigate whether DSC could be used to produce solar steel. The investigations concluded that they could and this then opened a larger market opportunity for DSC.

DYE has continued to take a portfolio approach to spread the commercialisation risk amongst multiple markets (i.e. steel, glass, etc).
