I'll never understand why some people tend to single out a certain particular minor category of share market participant - namely those who short-sell stocks - for special mention (even vitriol), when shorters are merely just one of the many different kinds of investors that inhabit the stock market.
You don't, for example, get people saying:
"Squeeze those Income Investors hard!", or
"Burn, you Growth-at-a-Reasonable-Price Investors!", or
"Those Quant Funds are pure evil", or
"The ASX is being manipulated by those European-based, Pan Asia funds."
The fact is, short-sellers - like any other investors - have zero impact on the either the quality, or the fundamental value of any business.
If anything, investors who take a considered approach to wealth creation, should be welcoming short-sellers; because they provide opportunities for those considered investors to buy shares at materially lower prices than they otherwise would have been.
