I rarely trade individual stocks anymore - Im concentrating on pure index trading - Morally I dont like the concept of shorting stocks particularly to borrow stock from someone who doesn't own it and lends it on behalf others eg super funds only to be returned later normally after decimating the share price - I dont buy the argument of it adding liquidity which is why it was banned at the height of the GFC..
With index trading I can go long or short and make money - with index shorting its a derivative product and not real stock so I dont have a problem as I am a small fish i run with the trend my trades dont move markets or individual stock prices.
Having said that charting indexes is boring I like to chart stocks and to research real companies i find interesting i think thats important because the indexes are all made up of real comapnies
