This is actually not correct,as with the options once ur loss is locked in,its game over,the heads are only a paper loss,unless u sell,yes lom may fall to 25c,but over time they may go up again,and whether its 1 year or 10,they have no expiry date,unless lom was to go belly up,(unlikely)so to get to the important point,both have there postives and negatives,it all comes down to ur view and stratergy.
