Now that Baker Hughes have identified the bitumen problem, and its link to kerogen maturation. My outlook for the HRZ unconventional has improved, prior to this knowledge, it was a mystery with a dead end in sight.
With the new understanding P Basinskis bow tie model on productive acreage(based on thermal maturity) has been reinterpreted,shrunken a little with boundaries redefined, with the Icewines outside of the productive zone. Charlie 1 provides a bonus, giving a test of this adjusted hypothesis. In effect what they are saying is our model was wrong, we drilled in the wrong place, we have fixed it and the volatile oil is over there
In both flow tests IW2 failed to achieve connection with the reservoir, so it is very encouraging to see the word connection in the Malguk 1 well report, whilst drilling in the HRZ.
Connection being where gas flows naturally from the reservoir to the well, in the report they had to increase mud weight to stop this flow.
